Who are our Spirit Guides?
Spirit guides are unseen beings or “the unseens” that were assigned to us before we were born. They are there to help guides us through life and are responsible for helping us fulfill the spiritual contract we made with ourselves before we entered this body and this world.
Some guides will stay with you throughout your entire life, and others will pop in every now and again to help you with specific areas of your life. These guides exist at different levels of consciousness. Some may be ascended masters (such as Jesus) and others might be your average spirit who just happens to be a master in a certain area. Other ascended masters include Sanat Kumara, Gautama Buddha, Maitreya, Confucius, Lord Lanto (Confucius’ historical mentor), Mary (mother of Jesus), Lady Master Nada, Enoch, Kwan Yin, Saint Germain, and Kuthumi. In numerology, when you see the numbers 333, you can trust that your ascended masters are close, watching over and guiding you. When it’s time for your spirit guides to help you, they tune in to your energy and help direct you to fulfill your mission here on earth.
They may appear to have a male or female energy, though in reality, they are just pure energy. They may be spirits who have had physical incarnations in the past, or they might be spirits who have not yet taken physical form. You may be the only person they are guiding, or they may be working with other people as well.
How do our Spirit Guides help us?
Our Spirit guides always know what’s going on in your life, and when it’s time for them to guide or intervene, they will and they have several ways they can achieve this. One example is being in a hurry to get to work and a slow car pulls in front of you, then later up ahead, you watch another car hit the one in front of the car that slowed you down.
Our Guides can arrange synchronicities to help alert us to something we need to see or know about. Pay close attention to synchronicities when they happen. Like looking at the clock and seeing 11:11 often or seeing things in pairs or doubles. In Native American culture, a sign could come in the form of an animal that crosses your path or the wind that blows in a particular direction.
Have you ever had a strange feeling that something bad was going to happen but you couldn’t quite figure out where it was coming from? Or for some reason you just all the sudden feel nauseous or sick.
Following your gut instinct is also a manner in which your guides will try to direct you. For example, you’re about to go to an event with a friend and something just doesn’t feel right. You’re not quite sure why but you listen to the feeling and stay home. You’re glad you did because later that night, your friend calls and says that she didn’t end up going either because she got a flat tire and spent most of the night waiting for help. It also just so happens that she was going to pick you up. Listen to that gut feeling. If something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t. At the very least, use your gut feelings to protect and keep yourself safe. On the other hand, if you get a feeling that you shouldn’t do something and you do it anyway, it could just result in something that will set you back or create more stress.
Our Guides can send us glimpses of intuition which may sound like a voice in your head. “Slow down” or “Wait.” These are thoughts that appear to come out of nowhere but have important information, direction and guidance for you. With so many distractions today, it is easy to disregard your intuition, but if you can practice by paying more attention to it, then it can be a very valuable source of guidance.
Spirit Guides in the form of People
Your guides will sometimes line people up and put them in your path. Maybe you were thinking about someone and then see them later the same day. Pay attention, maybe they have a bit of information for you.
Spirit Guides in the Form of Animals
Our spirit guides may also come in the form of an animal, these are called, “Animal Spirit Guides.” Our animal spirit guides may come in physical form as well as our dreams and visions. They may show up for a moment, a season, or a lifetime. Either way, they are there to help us on our path.
Your Guides can also arrange things to happen to get you to go in the direction they want you to go. Maybe you’re running late because your car won’t start or you can’t find your phone or your keys. This could be them intervening. They have to be careful with this because you have free will and they can only arrange so much or nudge so hard. The more you can pick up on their clues, the better. Sometimes you just need to surrender to a situation even when you are frustrated.
How to connect with your Guides
Sit quietly and ask for them to present themselves to you. This may come in unexpected ways but be open and trust that they are wanting you to know that they are there. This could take some patience and practice, but over time, you will begin to develop some type of communication with them.
1. Listen to your Intuition
That little voice that tells you to “relax” or “check your oil” or “take notice of the man in front of you” is a direct communication from your guides or higher self. Try listening to your intuition and see what results you get. Many people dismiss their intuition. Do not mistake your ego for your intuition, however. If you’re hearing thoughts like, “Don’t bother saying anything to him, he’ll never go out with someone like you” then that’s your ego.
2. Watch for signs
Ask your guides for what you want and then watch for signs that they’ve heard you. Sometimes they will show you an interesting license plate or bulletin board with a message. The signs can come in so many ways.
Sit in a quiet room or a garden and ask your guides to appear before you, sit with you, and have a conversation. In time your connection will become stronger, and the information you get will be more accurate and applicable to your life.
You can set the intention before you go to sleep to see and connect with your guides in your dreams.
How do you know you’re not just making them up?
Well, you are! We are making up everything we see and experience. So just trust that they are there as a part of your story to help guide you and protect you on your life journey.
How do you know when it’s really them trying to get your attention?
You’ll know by the advice you get. Does it resonate with you? Do they appear the same way every time? Do you feel like it’s coming from them and not you? Does the advice make sense to you? If the answers to these questions are all “yes” then you are on the right track.
